1. Make sure your hair is clean. Clean, day old hair works well for this!
2. Brush through all of your hair whilst heating up a small curling iron - apply heat defence and clip the top half of your hair above your head.
3. Brush again through the bottom half of your hair which should still be down and start curling your hair in 1-2 inch sections. Twist the hair upwards in the iron and then twist so that the top of the iron is pointing upwards vertically. Wait 15 PROPER seconds, then release the hair, following the same pattern you use to twist the hair up, but going backwards.
4. Repeat curling all around the bottom half of the hair and then spray the newly-curled hair with good holding hairspray and tie the hair loosely into a covered hair band. Pull it to the side of your head so that it's out of the way. Now, release the top half of the hair and brush through it again, maybe using a little more heat defence, and starting curling the hair like you did with the bottom half, Repeat around the whole of the top half of the hair.
5. Now gently release the bottom half from the band, and take random strands around your hair, clip the hair close to your scalp [but not so close you'll burn yourself] into the iron and twist the iron over three times. Hold for ten seconds then release. This will create a wave in the roots.
6. Take three medium sized curls from the right side of your hair and one thick sized curl from the left and gather them into a clip so that they don't end up in the ponytail.
7. Gather all the hair other then the curls you just clipped, and tie it tightly to the right of your head. Push the hairband gently towards your head to create some volume. Don't push it too much though or it'll all mess up! Take a thick strand of hair from the bottom of the side ponytail and wrap it around the base of the tail, covering the hairband. Clip it in place with a grip, or tuck it into the hairband.
8. Spray on a little hairspray and maybe some shine spray, and you're done!
